  3. Search your country/colony “within collection.”

  4. Look for documents from 1800 to 1914.

  5. Use the table of contents on the right to navigate.

  4. Use the table of contents or index to lookup your country/colony, and locate the correct page.

  5. Take a picture or make a copy of the primary source document.

  3. Scroll through the various primary sources for the correct date range (1800 - 1914) and country/colony. 
  4. Use Control F to search for your country/colony within the site if needed

**If you already know the primary source you need, you can do a basic Google search for that specific document.**

FOR EXAMPLE:  Search "open letter to King Leopold from George Washington Williams"

JSTOR Primary Sources Directions:

  1. Click the above icon for JSTOR.

  2. Search using the search field in the center, NOT the top for your country/colony being sure to try alternate names (e.g. Ghana OR "Gold Coast")

  3. Filter by date on the left: 1800 - 1914

  4. Filter for documents and images on the left
