Wise Wikipedia & Google Use

  1. SAVE the Wikipedia article for your topic (found in the 2nd tab on this page).
  2. SKIM the introduction only.
    1. Highlight any alternate words for your movement, names of leaders, or significant events.
  3. SEARCH FOR & SAVE one .gov or pbs.org website on your topic.  
  4. READ the website, looking for the answers to the sub-questions on your assignment. 
    1. Highlight these answers in the text.
    2. Add a comment to your highlight explaining how your highlight answers the research question.
  • Look at Chicano Movement on Wikipedia
    • Quality?
    • Can anyone edit?
    • Alternate names to "Chicano Movement?"
    • Names of leaders or significant events in the movement?
      • These are alternate keywords to use in the database and Google!

**REMINDERS**

  • Wikipedia is a starting point to gather background & keywords.
  • Wikipedia should not be cited for academic work.
